ARTIST STATEMENT
Rocks and minerals can be seen as the clock that dates the earth itself. They are also the finger and footprints of life's struggles and evolution. It was the sedimentary rocks that provided us with the necessary information we needed to have to be able to realize our planet's age. They are the concrete evidence of things far more powerful than us. The "Geodes" are markings of my own personal journey and my ability to leave behind an object of beauty and mystery much in the same way that nature does. There has not been a single industry that has not been directly dependant upon our planets' minerals. We have grown so accustomed to this gift that many of us have come to take it for granted. Man's dependence upon fossil fuels is growing stronger than ever before and even in a modern technological society we are facing a time when we must consider the implications of this dependence. My work is a simple gesture to try make us stop and appreciate the power and great mystery of our planet. | ||
